Toasting to the Future
It’s not every day a community gets to celebrate the beginning of a new chapter in their book. For High Point, January 29, 2020 — the day Congdon Yards was officially announced — was that day. And as some of the most dedicated figures of the High Point community gathered inside The Loft, few realized just how monumental this night would be. How the gears of High Point’s future have already begun to turn. And how Congdon Yards will soon become the heart the High Point community had been missing.
David Congdon, Vice Chairman of the Board and CEO of Old Dominion Freight Line, welcomed the crowd of more than 150 people, sharing his personal history in High Point and the passion that inspired the Earl and Kathryn Congdon Family Foundation to provide more than $30M to launch the new development.
Later, as guests enjoyed drinks and locally catered food from Plain & Fancy, they were given a taste of what Congdon Yards has to offer, through interactive stations that highlight the main elements of the experience: Work, Gather, Celebrate, and Innovate.
Congdon Yards wouldn’t be any of these things without you — our community. There’s still lots to do before we can call Congdon Yards complete (check out the project timeline), but this night showed us all just how much we have to look forward to.
