It began with a belief. The belief that downtown High Point was ready to become a different kind of place. A place that hums with energy and activity every single day of the year.
Fueled by this vision, Business High Point – Chamber of Commerce sparked the HP365 initiative to leverage our community’s global leadership and revitalize the local area.
At the heart of this effort would be a new cornerstone, built by and for the High Point community.
A coalition of city and community leaders including International Market Centers, business leader Bill Millis, High Point University, Blue Ridge Companies and interior design studio Barbour Spangle committed their time, talent and financial resources to this ambitious new vision. David Congdon and the Earl and Kathryn Congdon Family Foundation’s generous support anchors them all.
As founders of Old Dominion Freight Line, which grew from a single truck running a 94-mile route from Richmond to Norfolk, Virgina into a multibillion-dollar global freight leader, the Congdon family understands the level of commitment it takes to turn an idea into action, and action into enduring vitality. With a philanthropic commitment exceeding $40 million dollars, the Earl and Kathryn Congdon Family Foundation drove our ambitious vision into action.
Development plans honed in on Plant 7 and The Factory, which once housed the Adams-Millis Hosiery Mill, an industrial leader at the turn of the century. Through the vision and support of our community, we transformed these historic buildings into a dynamic new space that defines the future of downtown High Point.
